The gap problem

A band books a wedding, plays forty-five minutes, and takes a break. If nobody is covering that break, the floor empties and takes twenty minutes to rebuild. Do that three times and the band has cost you an hour of dancing.

When the band and the DJ come from the same supplier, the DJ is already on the same console with the same room tuning, and the changeover is one crossfade. That is the entire argument for booking them together, and it is a strong one.

Repertoire

  • Persian: classic and Tehrangeles, with a vocalist who can actually carry Googoosh rather than approximate it.
  • Motown, soul and funk, which is what a mixed room reliably dances to.
  • Jazz standards for cocktail hour.
  • Latin, for the hour where the floor needs something different.
  • Two or three specific requests learned for your night, agreed at booking.

The first question is always whether the date is open. Start there: the rest takes two minutes.

Name the venue if it is booked. If you are still choosing, leave this blank. The date is enough to start.

If the date is not fixed, choose the first day of the month you are aiming for and tell us in the notes. Popular Saturdays often book nine to twelve months ahead. Short-notice dates are still worth asking about.

How much does a wedding band cost in Toronto?

Do you supply the stage?

Yes. See stage and dance floor rental. Six pieces need a 16 × 12 ft platform minimum.
